Great step up from a standard kit lens. *Includes US Warranty*
I bought this to extend the reach of my already excellent Sony 18-135. Based on first impressions I’m quite pleased with the results. The extended 18-300 range is quite useful and will make for a great walk around lens for travel. Image quality looks great. One interesting feature of this lens is the minimum focusing distance at the wide-end. You can get within an inch or two of an object and still get focus, making it useful as a semi-macro lens.My only two quibbles are unavoidable for a lens of this type. First, focusing is a touch slow but that’s due to the lens itself – a zoom of this range requires a large number of lens elements and moving them to focus is sometimes slow. Second, the lens is just plain big and heavy. Not nearly as big as a full frame lens but it’s easily one of the bigger lenses for Sony’s APS-C ecosystem.A previous reviewer stated they believed the lens was gray market, however the one I received (ships and sold from Amazon) is not. A holographic sticker was included on the box verifying it was an authorized sale under US warranty.GOOD:- Useful zoom range- Incredibly close focusing distance opens up possibilities- Good image quality and color rendition- Solid buildBAD:- Autofocus is a tad slow compared to smaller range lenses- It’s big and heavy! If you’re looking for a great all-purpose walk around lens for a Sony A6xxx series this is a great choice!

Good general purpose lens
If I could have only one lens for the rest of my life, itâs this one.Things I donât like:Itâs large, so it doesnât fit in my smallest camera bag.Things I do like:It produces amazing photos. WIthout that, the rest is meaningless. This lens delivers. I never feel like I could have gotten a better photo with a better lens.It has a decent aperture range for a zoom lens. Iâm not married to the idea you can only get a good bokeh background with a super tiny F-Stop. Even as a beginner, this lens has enough of a range, I have enough tricks we can pull it off together. It has an amazing range. I can photograph birds in the tree across the street, a joust at a Renaissance Festival, and a friend sitting across a very narrow living room all with one lens. I donât care for swapping in the middle of things, and being able to get good shots near and far is a top priority for me.Itâs not that heavy. I can shoot handheld no problem.Itâs easy to manual focus. Yes it has auto focus. No, there are no problems with that. But sometimes the camera wants to focus on one thing and I want to focus on another. This lens is easy to get the things I want in focus to be in focus.Itâs a perfect lens for the Sony A6000.

The kit lens I wish my Sony a6500 would have come with
Great all around lens if you donât want to be switching between a portrait lens and a zoom lens, this is a good all rounder. Aperture doesnât get too low, but if you stand back from your subject and zoom in, the background compression gives you a nice blur effect and makes the background objects like mountains seem closer and larger. Great for vacation and photographing my kids who refuse to pose for a photo.

Very Good APS-c lens, great for travel
I used this on my SONY A7-4 works GREAT outdoors but I already have a full-frame Sigma lens that overlapped much of this lenses range. I prefer faster lenses. 1.8-2.8 If you are an APS-c user this could be your one-and-done lens for almost every situation.

Very happy with purchase
I brought this as my go to travel lens and Iâm very happy with it. The zoom range is great and Iâm pleased with the quality. This is fun to use! Only small complaints are (1) the weight/bulk but this is better than carrying 2 or more lenes and (2) with the variable f stop you need to adjust the speed to get the right light levels.

Love this lens!
I’m not sure about all of the professional statistics for this lens, but all over this lens is perfect. I needed something that had a huge zoom range with a decent aperature and this lens surpassed my expectations. If you’re on the fence with this lens, I would definitely recommend it. It was better than both my Sony 16-50mm and 55-210mm lenses in terms of image and build quality while maintaining a decent price. It is brushed aluminum and the zoom and focus rings are both smooth with a nice zoom lock switch. The focusing ability is also very good and precise compared to the two other lenses. The main issue that I have noticed so far is auto focusing at higher zooms, but manual focus shots are perfect, but that isn’t the lenses fault.

Magenta lens flare/ ghosting limits utility of an otherwise great lens
Lens has a great range: 18-300 is unbelievable range and sharp for the most part, but i had to downgrade rating because if the flareimages are sharp and autofocus is good. However there is a horrible magenta lens flare/ghosting that is very annoying and is seen in the videos, even with the sunlight to your back. It’s worse when you are shooting against the light making this lens unusable between 18mm and almost 60-70m.My first and last Tamron lens

Do-everything lens
Using it with the Sony a6400. I bought this for travel and to get longer reach than the Sony 55-210. At first I thought this was huge, but I’ve got used to the size. I got it for the longer focal length, but I like that it can go as wide as 18 mm without having to do a lens change. I took it on vacation and didn’t pack a second lens. It’s not too heavy on an APS-C body. One day I walked 20 miles and took 600 pictures. When I wasn’t holding it, it was around my body with the Peak Design Slide Lite. The weight didn’t bother my arms our shoulder. The zoom ring feels solid but not too tight. I can easily rotate the focus ring with my left thumb. I’m very happy with the photos. The Sony A6400 + Tamron 18-300 feels like the perfect pair. Also, kudos to the seller and Amazon delivery. It was delivered by Amazon instead of the post office or shipping company, and the driver required an adult signature.

This lens permanently sits mounted on one of my three cameras. It’s the ultimate walk around lens. Some have complained that focus is soft at 300mm, but I don’t see this as a deal breaker. First off, getting the shot is more important than getting the lens out. This lens replaces both my 18-105mm and 70-300mm together. (Yes, the 70-300 is Full Frame and quite a sharp lens, but sharp means very little when you’ve missed the shot.) Second, I don’t find the lens very soft at 300mm. The train tracks image was taken at 300mm. I am happy with how it turned out.A few more details about the lens. The extension barrel is a bit stiff while zooming out, but a lot smoother zooming back in. Not ideal for video I suppose, but I use mine for photography only. Auto focus is quick and accurate, and manual focus is smooth. The lens is well built and lightweight, but what crop sensor lens is heavy? Seriously. The weather sealing is a superb touch. I’m a bit of a clean sensor snob, so knowing that the lens is tightly sealed to the camera makes me feel comfortable. As mentioned above, I like the images taken at 300mm, and the close focus at 18mm is insane! Almost touching the subject, making for a macro style photo, as seen in the simple leaf image.Overall, this lens is well worth the money and I have no issues with it at all.

Got it in five days from Amazon. Took it out to Melkote and Kere Tonnur the very next day to test the lens. I have mated it to my basic Sony A6000. The picture quality is excellent especially below the peak exposure level of 300mm. Feels solid, decent build quality. VC works top notch, I was on two hill tops with huge wind obstruction; with no tripod. The VC worked almost perfect. No vignetting. Very acceptable quality of pictures. Happy to have it on my Sony. Now I don’t need to use the others – 18-105G lens, 18-55 kit lens, 55-210 telephoto kit lens… Tamron 18-300 exceeds expectations.
