Honest Reviewer –
This lens has a purpose
Simple, honest review as to why I gave it five stars.Likes: price is unbeatable, seems to be well made out of metal not plastic, light weight, narrow design, excellent sharpness at 800mm for the priceDislikes: chromatic aberration is sinful, the screw on camera mount doesnât stay tight, the tripod mount seems a little flimsy, not weather sealed, no aperture ring, no filter threads and the vinyl pouch is an abomination. This lens is excellent if you want to use it to survey an area from a long distance away, without spending the kingâs fortune on a high dollar lens that weighs 16 lbs and is 5 ft long and 1 ft wide. A drone might work also but itâs not going to cost $66. Thatâs why I gave it five stars 🙂 You might be disappointed if youâre a high priced photographer like myself, who sells his images for a living. This is not that kind of lens. Although I did get some sharp ones out of it.

Worth the money
Can’t complain about the price, lense is clear, zoom is ridiculous. Lock ring to extend is a little finnacy and needs some getting used to if you’re shooting on the fly

Exceeded my expectations
I am extremely pleased with this. For the price I was expecting something cheaply made, impossible to use. There was no way I could get good pictures, I thought.First off, it’s very well constructed. Heavy, sturdy steel. The lenses seem crystal clear. It feels like a more expensive item. It’s not some 3D printed, mass produced piece of crap. Definitely worth more than the price, as far as workmanship is concerned.Secondly, I was pleasantly surprised with the picture quality I got. Of course the first pictures I took were of the moon (like everyone else). You can actually see craters. The picture of the rabbit–that’s from about 50 feet away, hand held, no tripod. You can see for yourself the color and the clarity. Now, this IS a manual lens. I’m using a Nikon D3200, very basic DSLR, set to MANUAL. After experimenting with different ISO’s and shutter speeds, and some pictures that didn’t turn out, I think I got the hang of it. For the moon picture I did have to mount it on a tripod and use the timer release to click the shot, to minimize blur. But you can get good pictures without a tripod for distances up to about 50 feet.Definitely worth the price. I wasn’t quite ready to invest in a $3000-10,000 lens. This does what I need it to do.

Tripod Mounting Ring Broke
The lens itself was impressive. I wasn’t expecting much as it was pretty inexpensive, but my initial pictures were pretty good! Yes, using a tripod is needed unless you’re very lucky. Yes, manual focus is a hassle, but that’s the way it was in the old days so, suck it up – LOL! It still was well worth the cost – until the metal on the tripod mounting ring broke after only trying it out about 4 times in 6 months. Now, I cannot reliably mount the lens at all and I’m not going to risk my camera, hoping it will just stay. Because of the cheap steel they used, it’s pretty much useless now.

Really nice lens for the money
As pics show, these all shot at full 800mm. No tripod, all hand shots. It is going to add some bulk, but if you have good methods of holding telephoto lenses you know how to do it. I just got this today, and the quality is really nice for the 80 or so bucks spent. This resolves nicely on my D750 though it shows DX, and crops the image. It didn’t state DX lens in the order details or description, but I assumed it would be. Full frame tele lenses just don’t come with $80-100 price tags.Build quality is great too… again for the price. Focus ring is tight, and I like that. Most kit lenses DX lenses are on the loose focus ring side of things. Too easy to move. The lens cap is the weakest point. Spring was stuck. I can get another if needed. Not a big deal. This basically makes your camera look like a small telescope. The included T ring for the lens is nicely made. No issues, all metal and has 3 small allen screws for extra security to the lens mount. Comes with lens caps, faux leather case. Some chromatic aberration is to be expected, but overall if your subject is center, it’s not bad. The flag picture above with the cloud background was shot at the full 800mm. The problem I had in my camera was not being able to set the Aperture. It fixed at F22. Auto ISO did well enough for most shots. I bought this to photo rocket launches as well. Great lens, awesome price!!! Not good in low light though, so don’t expect much there. Should work better on a tripod for moon, or even bright planets. Going to try getting Jupiter and it’s bigger moons.

You get what you pay for.
I got this for extremely cheap on Black Friday so I am just going to lead with yes you get what you pay for. The first thing is while it does “technically” fit on a Nikon D750 it does not lock into place so when you are focusing to either extreme you have to hold the lens in place which needless to say can be a bother. This is manual focus only so be ready for that and while it says it can do auto aperture my camera only showed F0. That being said my first experiments with the lens were not bad. Color over all was natural and focus was clear using it either as a semi-macro or long-range telephoto. The main downside issue is there was a very minor bit of vignetting in the corners of photos when I had it out to the full 800 mm. In summary if you can afford either of the actual Nikon lenses, get them. If you must have a long-range telephoto lens and you can get it at the Black Friday price, it will do, not great but it will do.

Solid Metal Construction
Better than many plastic lenses. The only improvement I would say is to have some weather seal rubber gaskets so it can be used in mist and near water.

It definitely works, but my camera is a Sony alpha a33 and the adapter doesnât fit on my camera, I still managed to keep it together and took couple pictures very well, I would like to ask the seller if he has an adapter for my camera
