CLEAR, ACCURATE AND CONCISE MIC
The Maono PD100X is a beautiful, highly effective, efficient microphone connected directly to a PC via USB or to a mixer like Maono G1 NEO via XLR. Depending on the application, the versatility of USB and XLR connections are a great plus for this microphone.The microphone has a definite fun appeal. The light patters add that a fun dimension that is quite mood inducing: from calm to excitement. The mic with stand is light weight and sits nicely on my desk.Although specifications are important, I relied on listening to the recordings through noise canceling headphones. First was a direct connection to the MacBook Air via USB. The gain is just below maximum level and several sample recordings. The next samples are through the Maono G1 NEO via XLR adding just a touch of reverb for a little depth. All samples are recorded on Voice to make mp3âs for later insertions in iMovie, etc.Listening carefully to both samples, I was impressed with the sound reproduction and tonal depth. With the adjustment in the mixer while adding a music track, the playback voice is better than my own. The clarity, accuracy and the crispness of the playback is very clear. This rivals the Shure mic I use for voice overlays in my videos but at 1/3rd the cost. Edit: I was able to boost better audio in software with filters and eliminated the noise so I will add 2 stars considering most people who are interested in this already understand how to add filtersI bought this thing expecting love at first sight. I was looking for an RGB mic that can connect to XLR via mixer.I could not have been more wrong. Donât get me wrong it doesnât sound horrible but I have much comparisons to draw from as I own many mics.Before I was using a very similar mix of a different brand. It was less flashy with a single trim or RGB very subtle but it picked up sound good only when very close to my face. When I saw this and it advertised a wider vocal pickup range it seemed like a no brainer.One thing I noticed I can say is good besides the visuals is that it is lighter than my other XLR mics and plays nice with my low profile boom arm. After connecting it though I noticed it does pick up sound a bit further but the sound overall is muffled. Without boring you with every detail I will say Iâve tried this mic with a few other mixers, cords and varying configurations starting with my best and ending with trying to make it at least as good as my last one.Mission failed. Even with my optimal setup that usually gives me a radioish quality it has an electric hum that my other micâs lacked when tested. I used a ferrite bead to cut the signal noise but itâs just there.Using a different mixer more suited for live-streaming than professional audio I was able to get decent audio quality but itâs not an upgrade that I was hoping for.Iâm assuming results may vary but for my setup thatâs more on the advanced side Iâm just let down audio quality via XLR wise

The flashy lights are a good addition to any setup looking for an extra ambiance to your desk.Quality of the microphone is good, though it depends on the streaming platform or game mic bandwidth for voice chats.Voicemeter helps a lot for blurring out background noise and suppression.
