I’m impressed–Amazing Quality and Value!
Like a lot of people, I’ve been trying to find a high quality pair of earbuds that fit right and work well–that also don’t break the bank. Been there, done that… I bought a $200 pair of Bluetooth earbuds from a BIG, well-known brand. They were great! But in just over a year of use, the right earbud completely lost the ability to hold a charge. 🙁 So disappointing. Prompted by positive reviews, I bought these Back Bay Duet 50 Pro buds. I can’t speak to their longevity yet, but right out the box I am really impressed. The sound quality is easily comparable to the $200 buds from before. The controls are on point, and I happen to much prefer the push-button type of control versus tap. I have a slight tremor and I believe it affects my coordination with the tap, haha. I realize it’s a unique-to-me issue, but nevertheless, the push button feature works seamlessly in any case! As for fit, I switched to a medium tip, which maximized the bass and comfort. I have a bit smaller sized ear canals, but these sit so nicely without creating any ache, which is a major plus. Because Back Bay provides 6 different sizes, you’re sure to find the perfect fit for your ears. I’m pleased at the various features, such as a dust and sweat resistance, LONG playback time and robust powerbank capability of the case. It can even charge your cellphone with the included cord/adapter. I’m looking forward to testing out the phone call quality due to the CVC noise cancellation. I am really happy with the purchase!

Great little earbuds for third of the price of AirPods, although a few problems with battery life
EDIT (23/08/19): Added in battery life testing, will slightly change my opinions about these earbuds but they’re still very great otherwiseI’ve bought from Back Bay Audio prior to buying these earbuds (American EQ 40) and because of that, I knew these earbuds would be amazing from the start.Where to start? Well, of course, great audio quality as I was expecting from Back Bay Audio, banging bass! I use a customised EQ on Spotify all the time and these earbuds really bring out the lows and highs (which is my preference, I usually keep the mids pretty quiet). To be honest, I actually found these earbuds to have better sound quality than the American EQ 40s, these earbuds sound more fuller than the EQ 40s.Battery life; during my testing, the claims for 8-hour playtime is true. 40-hour total playtime, not so much. I’m not sure if it’s because of the battery capacity itself or because of standby time. You’ll find my battery life testing at the bottom of this review. There’s one thing I’ve noticed as well, on every occasion where the right earbud runs out of battery, there’s always 60% battery left on the left earbud. And also right when the charging case hits 25% battery (indicated with 1 quick flash of the blue light), it stops charging the earbuds altogether even though when it just flashed 2 times earlier.Comfort; using it for the first time was a bit difficult to find the perfect spot for the best sound quality (even right now while I’m listening with these earbuds while writing this review, I still have to adjust a bit to find the just-right spot). Unfortunately, because of this, I have to give it 4 stars in comfort, but when I do find that perfect spot it sits there perfectly without falling out.All in all, if you want great sound quality with excellent battery life in your truly wireless earbuds and don’t want to spend over $100 on AirPods, the Back Bay Duet 50 Earbuds are a major go!BATTERY LIFE TESTING:All battery readings are from the battery widget used on an iPhone XR with iOS 13 Beta 5 installed, so there may be inaccuracies with the readings.Charging case at 75%Test #1 (7 August): ~9:00 AM – 4:49 PM7 hours 49 minutes total100%, drained to less than 10% leftListening to SpotifyTest #2 (7 August): 4:58 PM – 6:11 PM1 hour 13 minutes total20%, drained to 0%Listening to SpotifyTest #3 (7 – 8 August): 7:50 PM – 12:34 AM4 hours 44 minutes total100%, drained to 50%Mostly watching YouTube, listened to some SpotifyCharging case fully chargedTest #4 (8 August): 10:59 AM – 11:50 AM51 minutes total100%, stayed at 100%Listened to SpotifyTest #5 (8 August): 12:58 PM – 6:36 PM5 hours 38 minutes total100%, drained to 50%Mostly listened to Spotify, watched a bit of YouTube and took a few callsTest #6 (9 – 10 August): 11:02 PM – 3:20 AM4 hours 18 minutes total100%, drained to 60%Watched YouTube for most of the timeCharging case at 75%Test #7 (10 – 11 August): 4:24 PM – 12:17 AM7 hours 53 minutes total100%, drained to 0%Mostly watched YouTube, a bit of SpotifyTest #8 (11 August): 11:35 AM – 11:45 AM10 minutes total100%, stayed at 100%Listened to SpotifyCharging case at 50%Test #9 (11 August): 12:48 PM – 8:35 PM7 hours 47 minutes total100%, drained to 0%Listened to Spotify mostly, watched a bit of YouTubeCharging case at 25%, but doesn’t seem to charge the earbuds or turn them off anymoreTest #10 (11 August): 9:39 PM – 11:31 PM1 hour 52 minutes total100%, drained to 90%About half/half with Spotify and YouTubeTest #11 (12 August): 12:53 AM – 4:02 AM3 hours 9 minutes total90%, drained to 50%Mostly watched YouTube, bit of SpotifyTest #12 (12 August): 3:21 PM – 5:09 PM1 hour 40 minutes total50%, drained to 0%Listened to Spotify the whole timeTotal playtime: 33 hours and 18 minutesCharging case fully chargedTest #13 (13 August): 3:02 PM – 8:55 PM5 hours 53 minutes total100%, drained to 50%Mostly listened to Spotify, a bit of watching YouTubeTest #14 (14 – 15 August): 5:37 PM – 1:02 AM7 hours 25 minutes total100%, drained to 40%Mostly watched YouTube, listened to Spotify for a bit. Disclaimer :- I am in no way affiliated to the seller, and did not receive the product for the purpose of the review. I purchased the product with my own money, and would be sharing my own opinions entirely.Hello,I have rarely reviewed anything on Amazon. That is not because I was never satisfied with the products, but I think I never saw anything in a product which asked me to go the extra mile to review something. But I would be reviewing this product to the best of my ability while also describing why I decided to review this product.Packaging :- I thought that the packaging was adequate and safe. I am plenty sure that the item was safe and secure during transport. The included manual is in many different languages including English, Chinese, and Espaneol. So I think product readability would not be an issue. There is a great assortment of ear tips, and selecting a proper ear tips is very important to obtain a proper isolation and fit.I do not own a lot of wireless earbuds. So I would mostly be comparing it to some eared wired IEMS I own, Soundmagic E80, Fiio F9 pro, and Apple airpodsFit and Comfort : They fit very well inside the ear. But proper eartips is very important. I tried all of the eartips and used the one that it came default with since it was the one that fit my ears the well. I would say that the fit is better than the E80 and the airpods (I absolutely hate the small protrusion of the airpods). But to my oddly shaped ear, the F9 pro still seemed to be the best fit, even with an expanding medium sized foam tips. However, I would not say that it is not good. It is smaller than the size of a candy. But I was expecting a smaller vertical presence. You would not be sleeping with these in your ears. However, the fit is really good. After you get a proper pair of eartips, they stay in their very securely and do not fall off even after prolonged use. It is also very comfortable and very light, and don’t wear down the ear at all. Neither does it make my ears hot ( something that I have observed the airpods do regularly, due to that protrusion brushing against my ear again and again ). Again, this is not a fair comparison since the fiio has the go-around wire, which goes around the ear, but it is only slightly heavier than the F9 Pro, while being lighter than the other two.Isolation : After you get the correct ear tips for you, they isolate really well. I can even use these as generic earplugs, and ambient noise is muted greatly even without any playback. The Fiio and Soundmagic with their foam tips cannot hope to compete with this level of isolation. The airpods leak sound continuously, it is not even a contest.Water resistance : This is not a comparison per-say but the earbuds have regularly faced splashes of water. I even mistakenly went into the shower with them once and it did not affect them. They are only IPX5 sweat and dust resistant rated, but it seems that they can take quite a bit more than that. I am happy to say that they had no problem even outside shower.Battery life : This comparison can only be done with the airpods. The duet 50 was rated for 8 hours. In my experience they lived fairly well upto that. I was continuously getting 6.5-7 hours of call time on continuous charge. The airpods run out of juice at about 4-4.5. I’m someone who is continuously on call throughout the day (think more than 8hrs/day or even more), so the battery life is very important to me. After two months of continuous use, the battery has come down to 6.5 hours mostly. That is still quite a lot. And that is call time. Music playback time is so huge, I do not even bother to count the number of hours.Audio : For the test of audio I have used a One-Plus 7T with a mix of Tidal and Youtube Music as a source.Audio : Since this is a utilitarian headphone, one should look at it’s audio quality holistically. It is not a wired headphone that you can plug into your DAC and run from there. This headphone is something that you would be taking to your gym, to your office, during your jogging sessions, and almost all the times. It does not have wires that tangle about and get stuck in the doorknob. With that said, it has good vocals, and capture both male and female voice very well. I burned it on mostly classical music, with a heavy emphasis on piano and cellos. And it sounds very well. I like warm melody and lush voice and this can give me that. On an average I would call this to be a very warm IEM. It does not do well with cold beats. My burn is not what I would call a V. It is of a flatter geometry. The crunches of the guitars are very prominent, which I really like. The lows are not fast, but they aren’t muddle either, and are very prominent. So it’s not F9 pro, but it is no airpod.Customer Service : These people have EXCELLENT customer service. I was having a mild problem with my case which was charging the headphones only 2.5 times fully instead of the advertised 4. And they shipped me a replacement free of cost within A DAY of me putting in a request. In the middle of the corona pandemic, that is quite a feat. This entire review is dedicated to Jake from customer service who personally requested me to review the product. Thanks Jake!

Good quality earbuds, sound quality is pretty good as expected of Back Bay. The material of the earbuds is pretty sleek. The only complaint is that the casing cover seems abit flimsy but for the price, it is worth the money.

Pros- good enough battery life at price point- good sound quality- good distance / strong connection- good price- earbuds have fit optionsCons- Advertised that each charge of earbuds should last 8 hours, but only lasts 6 hours, I tried this 3 times.- Not great for charging a smartphone, as the full charge was only enough for 8% of total batteries. For emergency use only.- see image: my earbud fits came with one tip missing. Contacted their support, and they said they’d mail me new ones, and send shipping info. Been a week, and haven’t heard from them yetOverall: for the price, I’m pleased with the product as long as the battery life doesn’t decrease significantly with use.
