All lenses should be made with hoods like these!
No more fumbling for hoods and reaching inside lens hoods to snap on lens caps. Right on the outside, hood stays on, cap is on and off in a flash! I wish they made flared out ones for my wide angle lenses too. Not sure how wide you can go with hoods like these, probably 50mm. I held one up to a 35mm (full frame lens) and they wont work on that. The hood vignettes the photos. I have one on my 50 though and that’s no problem. I’m not sure where the cutoff point is. Somewhere between 40-45 range I’d suspect. For all lenses that can take these, they all got one! 🙂

Product photo is misleading and clearly of a smaller diameter hood
I was looking for a decent longer hood for a 200mm prime lens. This hood seems to be good quality and value. My mistake for not throughly checking all the specs, and taking the product photo at face value, because it is much shorter than it appears in the listing.

Elegant simple Design
My original lens hood was a marvel of engineering that had many features I really liked. The downside was, it was fragile. It was complicated and had a plethora of moving parts. It was also very expensive. I went through four of them before I came to the conclusion that I couldn’t keep spending that kind of money forever. I switched to a folding rubber lens hood that snapped in. It worked great, but the snap in feature was not secure. I lost two of them. Then I found this delightful piece of gear. It screws in. It is not going anywhere. To my further delight I realized that it came with a lens cap that fit the hood and not the lens. It makes getting the lens deployed quick and easy and if I lose the cap, the lens is still protected. This is an elegant design and well constructed of good materials. I couldn’t be happier.
