Good quality
I put smaller versions of these on my vintage Nikon lenses. I also put this one on my 80-200mm F2.8 AF Nikkor. Not as a hood replacement, but in addition to the hood. By doing this, I no longer have to reach inside the hood and risk dropping the lens cap sideways onto the front element and scratching up the lens. Now I can simply place this larger cap right onto this hood, which is now surrounded by the oem hood. It sits inside only like 1/4″ and the cap doesn’t have to be held just right, to reach way down inside anymore. It would be extra hassle to have to remove lens hoods, the factory outer twist and this ones, threaded on, if you’re using filters on it often, but since that’s rare on this lens, this is nice for those of us who don’t remove lens hoods. Just cap it and upcap it sooooo much easier now. These things have more than just one purpose! I also did this same setup on my 50mm and my 85mm.Keep in mind, these style hoods will vignette at roughly 45mm on a full frame (I tested it on one my wider zooms). These style hoods are great for 50mm + full frame. If they made them flare out with jumbo caps, they could make these work for wide lenses too, but I don’t see them making those yet. If they one day, do that too, and I’d add them to my wide lenses too.

Great Lens Protectors And Light Entry Adjustment
I recently received the Lumix FZ80. I have a great DLSR camera but, I wanted a bridge camera especially during the colder months. I have researched many options for the lens hood(s) and after watching Graham Houghton on YouTube, I found these 2 hoods that work perfectly. the 55mm wide angle and the 77mm screw nicely into the FZ80 lens. I am showing you the lens fully extended as well, at the camera’s neutral position. the lens are a metal base, not plastic which is very nice without added zero weight to the camera itself. Each hood comes with its own lens hood cap! Lastly, I have shared a picture of the lenses placed in a small camera bag – takes up no room at all; along with the camera charger and on top, not shown, I place a divider and the camera in a leather case covering on-top. Really nice additions to the FZ80!

Feels a bit like shoddy manufacturing!? 😞
The fit and finish and quality of this lens hood wasn’t worth the $10 price tag. It wasn’t even fully and uniformally painted decent with pieces of raw metal exposed here and there. Can’t the manufacture make a clean and precise product? Is that too much to ask? It feels like junk manufactured by a quality control crew asleep on the assembly line while crap escapes and gets by unchecked. Look else where for a decent metal screw in lens hood. They couldn’t even get this right!

It will do
A little bit more flimsy than I would have hoped, but it will do for now

For my camera
I bought these hastily to solve the too bright sunshine we occasionally get here in Florida, but found out they wouldn’t work on that lens, but will on my telephoto lenses.

Good piece of metal. I use this with my Nikon 80-200mm 2.8 D lens. Works good so far.
