Big bang for the buck
Bit the bullet and bought this unit as a replacement for the Panasonic Lumix VARIO 100-300 f4.0-5.6 zoom. It does not zoom to match the Lumix lens, but the image is exceptionally better. I can achieve the same image using the Oly lens and cropping to what I would have gotten with the max zoom on the Panasonic lens. Used on the E MI MarkII the focus is extremely fast and accurate. Having struggled with the Lumix lens auto focus speed for a couple years and not really getting super sharp images, the Olympus lens was a revelation in both image quality and focus accuracy. BIF is no longer a struggle when used with version 3.0 of the E MI MarkII firmware upgrade. Highly recommended.

A sharp lens worth every penny.
For those who have never had the misfortune to heft a bagful of full frame pro gear (I used to carry 35-60 pounds worth daily) you might not fully appreciate the size and weight of this lens. Itâs big by Olympus lens standards. Itâs also sharp to the edges, color perfect and wide ranging for a constant aperture zoom. F2.8 all the time is great when you canât control the light levels. It is also pricey unless you count the lenses you donât buy when you have it in your bag.

Excellent lens
This lens meets every expectation! Iâm converting from full frame Nikon to Olympus due to size and weight when I travel. Very sharp and fast. I recommend it.

“International Version” meaning grey market. No US Olympus warranty
No issues with the package (Lens, other stuff), or the price (the best on the internet). So 3 stars for somewhat deceptive marketing. The items are new, but here’s the response to my question regarding US vs. International (grey market) products:- “Thank you for your inquiry. All of our product’s are genuine and are sold brand new unless the listing states otherwise. Since we do not buy directly from the manufacturers they may not honor the warranty, and would be consider the merchandise as an import model. However, the product is exactly the same, and since we don’t buy directly from the manufacturers, we can sell the product for below MSRP.”Clear as mud!So if the lens fails, you’d end up sending it to Olympus for repair at standard vs. free warranty repair rates. Not sure how that would affect firmware upgrades, etc.? Note- if you click on the “info on warranty” button on this or any of the many others like this company, and you land on a page that says something to the effect of, “contact manufacturer for warranty information”, its safe to assume its a grey market product.Grey market products hurt the US based companies selling legit, fully warranted products (Olympus America in this case). You have to ask yourself, do I care about US companies, and what is the chance I’ll need a warranty/free repair?
