Works best in a small recording space
Bought to improve my voiceovers for explainer videos. It definitely makes a difference and quiets ambient noises. If you work in a larger facility then this won’t have as much effect. I moved my studio to a smaller space added sound deadening to the walls and this was the final addition to building a budget recording studio. Holds microphones well from top down or bottom up positioning. Also mounts to a stand if you’re not sitting at a desk. Folds up to a small stowaway size. Good product,could be bigger. Five stars if it was about twice the size.

Perfect for Boosting Home Recording Quality!
I bought the CAHAYA Microphone Isolation Shield to improve the sound quality of my music recordings and YouTube videos, and it’s been a game changer. The shield does an amazing job at isolating my voice, cutting down on reverb and echo, which makes my recordings sound much clearer and more professional.Setting it up was super easy—it took me less than five minutes to mount it on my Fifine USB C microphone. If you’re recording in an untreated room without soundproofing or acoustic panels, this shield really helps reduce unwanted noise. I noticed a huge improvement in the quality of my recordings just by lowering the gain and positioning the microphone close to the shield.The shield is sturdy and well-made, though the plastic feet feel a bit flimsy. The foam and adjustable design are fantastic. You can fold it up for easy storage and take it with you anywhere, which makes it very portable and flexible for different recording setups. It’s compatible with most microphone stands and fits securely.For anyone looking to improve their home recordings, this isolation shield is an affordable and effective solution. My voice now sounds much more focused, and overall recording quality has improved a lot. Definitely recommend it!

Won’t fix bad recording environment but makes a decent one much better.
Product arrived well protected in a custom box, inside another Amazon box, so it arrived in perfect shape. I was a little perplexed at first, what to do the various parts included, but the instruction sheet was very clear, and I was able to get my Shure SM58 attached to it on a tripod. Thankfully the included hardware works for either standard mic stand threading or standard threads on common camera tripod stands. My current mic stand was in use at the time, so I had to improvise, and it worked great. My typical recording environment has a lot of flat walls and hard tile, and the reflections in the audio are terrible. I tried to record some A:B tests of how I normally would record, versus using this mic shield and it certainly makes a noticeable difference in quality. The bad reflections and echo were still present, but noticeably reduced, making it a little easier to process. I’ve recently tried a new process moving my recording sessions out into my garage which is carpeted and has lot of stuff that absorbs echo and reflection. I did some A:B tests in there as well, and the audio is much cleaner using the shield, I’m getting almost recording booth quality, so I’m quite happy about that. (I just have to be careful that the water heater or A/C aren’t running while I record!) Overall, this will definitely help make my recordings cleaner. Recommended.

This compact and inexpensive mic shield is one piece of a good recording environment.
In a less-than-perfect recording environment, this shield punches above its weight because it lies so close to the mic. It works solely on the sound going directly into or away from the microphone. If you’ve taken other steps to absorb and diffuse problem frequencies this may round off a little harshness and allow for decent recordings. On its own, don’t expect miracles. In many small/home studios, the untreated ceiling creates an unpleasant coloration embedded in the recording. In that case, you may try placing this horizontally above the mic on a boom stand.

Simple to set up and works like a charm
I was looking for something to lessen the echo like effect of recording in my room, and this shield turns out to work like a charm for this. It was easy to set up to just where I need it and it does seem to absorb the extra unwanted sound resulting in a nice a full warm tone over the mic.

Excellent sound-absorbent microphone shield
Right out of the box you can unfold this microphone shield and set it up on the table to block off as much of the room as you like! As shown you can block off the back and sides of the mic so that the only sound it’s hearing is coming from you. If you want to further isolate it you can form the hinged panels into a tube so that you can speak straight into the mic but it is deadened to sound from all other directions. And also as pictured, you can open this up as wide as you like depending on how spread-out the focus of your recording is arrayed around your mic.The sound shield comes with some little feet you can screw into it for sitting on a table, and some hardware for mounting a mic to the shield itself as well as for mounting the shield on a mic stand. It’s the full kit, everything you’d need to make it work with your existing setup. But it’s also good stand-alone for if you have no existing setup.I’m really happy with this. It’s going to get a lot of use!

I love that this can be folded down to save space when it’s not in use. All the material is very well made and it should last for years.It works great to clean up audio. In my tests, I think the audio sounds so much better because there’s no echo whatsoever. So this is a really good way to clean up audio in many situations where you can target the source – for instance putting in front of an amp that’s mic’d.
