Lightweight, affordable zoom lens
Amazing how inexpensive zoom lenses have become. I already have Canon’s high-end 17-55mm lens that has an f/2.8 aperture all the way across the zoom range. This ranges from f/3.5 to f/5.6. The zoom mechanism is not as silky smooth. But it’s more than good enough. I have three Canon DSLRs using the cropped sensor and I wanted a second normal (range) zoom. This fits the bill perfectly, at about one-fifth the cost. I have been pleased with the quality of the images.I have also been invariably happy with the quality of Amazon refurbished products, camera goods (as this was), tools, whatnot.

A Go to Lens
I know this is a kit lens but as a professional photographer this is my go to lens. (Gasp). With the the right lighting and setup I don’t need to be changing out the lens all the time. Perfect for my needs. I can get a few years of use of a lens before needing to replace with a new one. A real work horse.

Maybe it was something that I did. I went to the menu and tried to fix all the options. Set the lens. I still couldn’t get anything to work properly. It was extremely loud maybe this camera lens is good for photographs but not video

Excellent lense
The attached pictures to me appear to be excellent quality at close, about 4 inches for red flowers, and a foot or 18 inches. Very pleased with the image quality when shot as super fine 15MP (2009 EOS 500D). Didn’t see any optical aberrations.
