The 5 stop stabilization is excellent for really low light situations
The lens is quick, silent and sharp. I upgraded to this lens from the first version of the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 USM Lens that I bought in 2012. A new feature that I have really made use of on this lens is Mode 3 on the stabilizer mode options. Mode 3 turns on the stabilizer when the shutter is released, and is intended to be used for erratic movement. I photograph birds and insects a lot, and Mode 3 works especially well with hummingbirds that hover, but constantly move one way or the other to get just outside of the view of the lens, bats and flying insects. The 5 stop stabilization is excellent for really low light situations, and I find it works great for getting clear photos of nocturnal animals like bats, owls and porcupines in the low gray light at dusk that are too far away for a flash. This lens also has a closer minimum focus than it’s predecessor. With the sharpness and clarity this lens offers I can often get macro like detail. The lens is very lightweight and durable, which makes it a great choice for travel.

Just received the lens. works fantastic. be aware that it does not come with the tripod ring. It is not implied or listed as an included part. I just thought it came with it because most photos of the lens have the ring and mount included. ah well, that’s minor. Beautiful lens.

Beautiful new Canon 70-200 F4L USM II Lens
Received my new Canon EF 70mm-200mm F/4L USM II lens today from Amazon. Fast shipping and well packed. The lens has a solid feel, everything is smooth when zooming and focusing. The newer, more white color, is very nice and matches my Canon 6D well. I sold my f/2.8L version of this lens due to the weight of it. After 4 years of using it, my shoulders and neck started to feel the pain. This F4 version is perfect, and lightweight. The lens hood is nice, and I believe it should have come with a tripod collar, but Canon seems to want to charge us extra for it. The lens comes with a nice soft case as well. Looking forward to continuing to do my youth sports photos, and general photography with this new lightweight alternative. Highly recommended.

Very Good Purchase
When you step into the IS II USM Lens arena you are at the next level. This lens makes you look like a pro even if you aren’t. I have taken pictures in the day and at night. It is well worth the money. When I first used it I was thinking I could have brought a regular lens and achieved the same results. Then I open the pictures up on my computer. I aimed at items 2 miles away because I have a regular EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM which is a good Telephoto Lens. But when I changed up and spent a little money on the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II USM Lens it changed me and my title. This lens with a little work will definitely get you phone calls from the pictures it produce. As mention the items I took from 2 miles away were very clear and I could make out names and see window glass clearly. I zoomed in and I was very impressed. Took pictures of the same buildings at night with a high ISO and the buildings were very clear. Overall this is one of the best Lens on the market. If the others shoot better I can’t wait to buy one.

$1400 lens shipped in a box with no protection other then the canon display box. Utterly unacceptable for a professional grade and price product. Also, why did this take so long to ship? Should I have bought it direct from a photo supply for the same price instead? lens itself is awesome as expected.

Amazing portrait lens.
This is such a sharp and quality lens for portrait. I used to use f2.8 version but this one is lighter and sharper as well. You can get great images at lower shutter speed.

This lens is amazing. Very quick to focus ,amazing stabilisation and light telephoto lens the package I was looking for. I was able to take a shot at 200mm with 1/10 shutter speed and it is super sharp. Only thing is this lens comes with USA warranty. just keep it in mind.

This is one of the best lenses that Canon makes. Far lighter than the 70-200 F/2.8 version which is far more expensive, twice the weight and that extra stop is rarely needed in practice. A shift from ISO100 to ISO200 won’t make an image quality difference and the bokeh is virtually identical.There was no warranty card in the box, so best guess this is a grey market lens. Warranty is only good for 1 year anyway so no a big loss for me. I’m more likely to drop the lens rather than it having a manufacturing defect!

This is my first L lens therefore I can’t compare it to other L lenses, however this is an excellent lens that takes clean crisp photos. I enjoy taking adventure and nature photos, tThe experience of this lens makes me want to retrace my steps and take those photos all over again. I would highly remmed this lens for its excellent structure, its great clear photos and light weight which allows you to take excellent hand held photos which you can’t as easily with the other more heavier L lens.
