, The RF 800mm IS STM lens is a super telephoto prime lens with 4-stop image stabilisation and a greater reach than its sister lens, the RF 600mm IS STM. It is perfect for the wildlife enthusiast, and ideal for specialist pursuits such as bird and aviation photography. Lightweight, powerful and compact with excellent image stabilisation for handheld shooting, the Diffractive Optic (DO) design, along with the RF lens mount and a fixed, F11 aperture, helps make it a more compact lens and easier to pack into a travel bag. Designed for Canon’s Full Frame mirrorless cameras, its RF lens mount offers a faster communication speed than a conventional DSLR. Smooth and silent focusing from the STM motor is a real advantage too, particularly for video.
ULTIMATE TELEPHOTO REACH – Capture views and shoot the ultimate frame-filling moments in glorious detail that benefit from creative telephoto compression.
SHARP, SHAK-FREE IMAGES – Thanks to 4-stop image stabilisation, super sharp telephoto images are possible.
REVOLUTIONARY SIZE AND WEIGHT – the lens contracts to 281.8 mm in length when stored and weighs only 1260 g.
SMOOTH AND QUIET FOCUS – An STM motor allows smooth, quiet AF while a Lens Control Ring gives intuitive control over settings. Pleasing bokeh is achieved thanks to a bladeless, F11 aperture.
COMPATBILITY – EOS R / EOS RP / EOS Ra / EOS R5 / EOS R6 / EOS R3 / EOS R5 C / EOS R7 / EOS R10 / EOS R6 Mark II / EOS R8 / EOS R50 / EOS R100

Nice lens for bird watching.
First I’m only a hobbyist when it comes to photography not even near a professional.I found this lens to be great for closeups of my backyard birds. It does require good light for the best shots. But as I said I’m a hobbyist just taking pics for fun nothing more. I’m not looking for professional quality results. Just nice pics..when it comes to lenses price does matter in the quality their built with..being older however weight also matters to how steady I can hold the camera and lens. This lens is about 3 or 4 lbs. Just at my limit I think. The much more expensive lens in this range weigh somewhere between 12 to 16 pounds much more then I could ever handle..I do mostly grab and shoot photos not setups using tripods. Hope this helps some . Whatever you choose have fun doing it.

Open box item
This lens had been opened and used before. There was no seal on the box, dust on the lens and multiple smudges on the lens body.

I have now used this RF 800 mm F11 lens on R camera quite a few times. I find it delivers sharp images in right conditions. For best sharpness in lower light tripod is recommended. Exposure times of 1/80s are ok with the very effective image stabiliser function. I have obtained nice images of moon (using tripod) and distant birds and animals. No issues with any optical aberrations. These are handled also by the in-camera processing, I understand. The lens has fixed aperture F11 and has no aperture blades. So the background blur is natural and smooth. F11 does require bright light conditions for shorter exposure times and for handheld images. The lens is is quite long, when operated (44 cm with a hood attached), but can be shortened for placing in rucksack. It is relatively lightweight. This is certainly a good value alternative to the heavy and costly wide aperture L-lenses.

If you do not have the budget to purchase any of Canon’s super expensive 600mm or 800mm lenses, then the 800mm F/11 is an excellent alternative for wildlife photography. Just understand the following limitations of this lens -1. Its a fixed aperture F/11 lens. This means it is not ideal for low light photography.2. Don’t expect great bokeh.3. Auto focus may not be as fast as some of Canon’s far more expensive telephoto lenses. It is however quite light and fairly easy to shoot handheld. With constant practise, you can work around the above mentioned limitations and get the best out of this lens.I highly recommend it if you are passionate about wildlife photography.

He podido disparar a velocidad 1/2000 f/11 e ISO 800 con buenos resultados.
