, ABOUT COAT DEFENSE:
Coat Defense creates products such as our cat and dog wound care products that work quickly and effectively to prevent and eliminate skin issues. And we do it without any of the harmful ingredients commonly found in other powders and pastes. Our mission is to provide skin and coat health products that really work and are safe for animals, the humans who care for them, and the planet we share.
DO’s FOR EFFECTIVE RESULTS:
Discontinue the use of shampoos containing Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Chlorhexidine, Coal Tar, And Salicylic Acid. These chemicals are known as skin allergens and remove the protective oils and microbioms that are essential for skin wellness and required by the immune system to provide true healing. If using medicated shampoos with these ingredients, we recommend waiting 3 days to apply our paste.
DIRECTIONS TO USE THIS WOUND TREATMENT:
- Gently clean any dirt or debris from the treatment area, prior to application.
- Allow existing scabs to fall off on their own, don’t pick off any scabs.
- With one hand, gently push back fur so that the area that needs treatment is exposed and with the other hand use fingers to apply a coating of the paste. Do not rub in.
- It is advised to avoid applying the paste to fur. Even though the paste is not harmful, it will dry like a scab and require bathing or brushing to remove.
- Let the paste dry to a near white shell and leave on for several days.
- Paste becomes abrasive when it is dry. So avoid applying the paste into paws, on joints, or in skin folds.
- Allow at least 2 days for skin cells to knit together under its protection.
- Use a wet cloth or water to remove.
- Reapply as needed until the skin is completely healed.

Works great
I have chronic lickers. This dries out the area and gives the skin a chance to heal. It doesn’t hurt the pup if they lick it either. Will always keep this on hand, along with their other products.

does not work as well as I hoped.
It did relieve the itch and redness but it is a thick paste and as soon as the dogs lay down on their beds or floor the paste comes off I also had to use a donut on one of my dogs until the paste had a chance to soak in because he would turn his head, find the sore with coat defense on it and lick it off. also, for the money it was a tiny jar. Mine is nearly gone already.

My dogs skin broke out more!
I contacted cost defense after my English Bulldogs skin broke out more. All they told me was to place a return with Amazon on this product and the other 2 , I ordered. Amazon is no help. I talked to Jessica back and forth thinking you needed all this info to start the return process. Ugh no, She was little to no help. These products made her skin worse so anyway anyone read g this just a cautionary tale be careful! Thru are not vets and this is not made by vets. Trash.

Cat wound healed quickly
My cat is an overgroomer. I think she’s just nervous nelly. I’ve taken her to the vet for this before and just got a huge bill and a temp solution. They prescribed pills and ointment. Have you ever tried giving your cat a pill? Not fun. What truly helps her is keeping her from over grooming herself while her overgroomed area heals but keeping her in a onesie or cone 24/7 is just not feasible. I know she doesn’t have fleas or anything like that. She just will lick and lick until the hair is gone and the skin is red and sore and weepy. I decided to try this stuff out. I bought a bunch of over the counter things actually before getting this. I bought a hydrocortisone for cats in hopes that the itchiness would stop and she’d stop licking but it really didn’t help. I got an antiseptic wash in hopes of cleaning it and keeping it clean would stop her from licking but it didn’t. I got her probiotics and fish oil in hopes that I could address her issue internally but again that made zero difference. Finally, I got her a soft cone and this jar of coat defense. It has been about 4 days. The overgrooming wound is drying up, the hair is as starting to grow back, and she can’t reach it to lick it. I’m impressed by this product. Definitely recommend it.
