Probably the best Cold Weather Bag for the price!
For the price and performance, I don’t think this sleeping bag can be beat, especially if you are looking for maximum warmth in severe cold camping conditions. The lining is very smooth and surprisingly comfortable, while also adding the benefit of providing a degree of water/weather resistance. Likewise, there is a generous amount of insulation that is fitted well in the sleeping bag so that it does not shift or clump up, keeping the whole bag evenly insulated. The mummy style also contributes to rapid warming, without the need for multiple layers of clothing.Other features such as the “zipper plow” make it a breeze to zip/unzip the bag which just further adds to how much value there is to this bag. The only “drawback” to this bag is that it is fairly large and bulky; if you are a backpack camper trying to find lightweight performance, this is not it. Also, if you are someone who feels constricted in mummy style bags, take a look at Coleman’s Big Basin sleeping bag instead; it has similar performance but in a standard “rectangle” shape. For my purposes though, this is basically perfect!

it is a bag that you sleep in
Warm; saved my morale on a very arduous hike through 3 feet of snow up a VT. mountain side with snow covered planks all the way up and down. God, never again. I despise the mummy-style bag, but use it anyway because camping is not really about domesticated comfort. This bag design is perfect for survival and staying warm under very bad circumstances, assuming precautions are kept to keep it dry. It is not meant for chilling at the house, so it gets all the stars it deserves, despite being annoying from a true comfort standpoint. I just wish it had like an inch more width at the bottom. I’m 6’1″ and it was too long, but not wide enough at the feet…but again, it is a mummy bag and I got what I paid for. It did the trick; just keep your feet together and contort your body like a night crawler until fatigue overcomes discomfort and your own stupidity for not staying at home. On a serious note, the bag is very cozy and plush enough to almost be annoying to carry, but if you avoid sleeping pads like I do, the thickness of it is a huge win.

Best of Class: The Quest for a Great Sleeping Bag
For a recent camping trip, I ordered 4 different brands of sleeping bags for my family to do my own comparison test after ending up confused by reading pages of reviews and camping forums. I was happily surprised by this sleeping bag, being one of the cheapest in the bunch and yet the best quality. Not only was the outer fabric higher quality ripstop polyester (thicker and heavier), but small details were awesome: a zipper tab that makes it super easy to use in pitch dark, a drawstring on the internal collar and of course the padded backing on zipper to block drafts. The only real part of this that was disappointing was the quality of the stuff sack- but the least important and easily replaced! It also is a bit small in width, I am 5’9 w/ a medium frame body and there was just enough space to not feel claustrophobic. A larger sized body might feel constricted and not as warm.I highly recommend this bag for the occasional (car) camper. It is too bulky and heavy to pack for hiking. But at this price point, it’s not aimed for those people. In fact I will be returning 2 bags (by Eureka and Slumberjack) to replace with this bag for our next trip. A great Fall/Spring sleeping bag.TIP: when choosing a bag, the lowest temp rating is the “survival” temp, NOT “comfort” temp. Add about 20 degrees for that. Hence why a 30F bag while actually be comfortable at only around 50F temps (unless your wearing many more layers!). That is why I choose bags rated between 0F and 15F and we were all just warm enough on the coldest night. I am by nature always cold and was pleased to still be warm in the morning!Weather: Damp, drizzle, slight wind, mountain field. About 30 F at night/ 40 F midday- mid October.Type: Car camping, simple 4 person tent with rain coverSleeping pad: Wenzel self-inflating pad (great pad, see my other review!)Clothing: Silk thermal, thick sweatpant top/bottom, wool socks/ hat

Awesome. Warm and comfy. Great deal for price. Does not fit in storage bag. I used an 80L dry bag. Minor issue. Highly recommend.

I’m 6ft2/95kgs and the length and width of the bag is ok.Enough space at the feet and shoulders to be able to roll over and not have the whole thing become a tangled mess during the night. Wide enough to be able to lay on your side and hang a knee off to the side for support as well. The hood is really great, keeping my head warm.To be honest I left it half unzipped as I was getting too hot during the night, using it more like a doona than a sleeping bag.

This Coleman mummy style is warm. I was BAKING within 2 minutes of being inside it!Fair enough I was indoors and not in very cold temperatures but it feels warm within 1, 2 minutes of being inside, it seems to be so well insulated.I feel so good being inside it, like a cocoon. I love the feel of the material, it is not a cold or itching material, even in tshirt I like the feel of the material against my skin.It seems to be made of excellent quality.I did not feel claustrophobic despite its mummy style.I had bought this sleeping bag originally for a member of my family who is younger, slimmer and taller than me and expected this member to test the sleeping bag as it did not happen as I was told later, I tried it out.I had bought this Coleman mummy sleeping bag for this member and I received today Coleman Big Basin sleeping bag that is of rectangular shape and not as restrictive in the feet area ( I have not tested the Coleman Big Basin sleeping bag yet) but I could easily use that mummy style sleeping bag.I did not feel like I could not stand the mummy style cut of the sleeping bag on my feet. Plus at 1m66 as my feet are higher up, I have even more room width wise. There is plenty of room on the top of my legs, stomach and shoulders area.I even closed the hood without feeling claustrophobic.Without a pillow under my head I felt comfortable in the hood, I felt supported under the neck without even realising I was, I felt cushioned with the top of the sleeping bag.The zip is strong, seems well made, of good quality and does not catch. In fact the whole sleeping bag seems extremely well made.I am in love with this Coleman sleeping bag.I took it to the bedroom to try it out on top of the bed and it is not heavy and cumbersome, it is reasonably light. The Coleman bag the sleeping bag came however, is a disappointment.I was unable to put the sleeping bag inside, the bag is too small. But if there is a choice between return this sleeping bag because of the bag it came in, I choose to keep this sleeping bag and buy another bag to put it in.I am so impressed with this sleeping bag, it is warm, cosy and beautiful to be in it.Even to look at it, to handle the sleeping bag, its zip, the material we can tell the workmanship is superb!!
