Nice Bag But Choose Size Carefully
Choosing camera bags is a constant struggle. There were over-the-shoulder bags with top openings, then a few generations of back packs with side openings. Then messenger bags. This camera bag from CWATCUN is a slightly new idea. A hybrid between over the shoulder and hand held. It is strongly made from good quality black woven canvas material on the outside with a pale gray, slightly silvery inner lining. There are some orange details to give it a bit of pizzazz. The bag has a lots of pockets and openings which are useful these days for carrying all the digital paraphernalia like battery packs, SD cards and chargers etc.I installed my Canon EOS 5Ds with a fitted Sigma 50mm f1.4 lens and it just about squeezed in pretty snugly. I have an ARCA Swiss dovetail mount on the bottom of the camera body so this made things a bit tighter. Without the mount the camera would have just the right amount of space – this is in the smaller of the two available versions. In hindsight I should have chosen the larger model but I will still find this bag useful. The external pockets make the body of the bag slightly stiff, not rigid but not super bendable, so if you need to jam a tight camera in there the bag resists flexing to some extent. So you need to choose the right bag for your camera gear fairly carefully. Difficult without prior physical available of the item.So this bag fills a vacant space in the camera bag universe where bags seems to get bigger and bigger and correspondingly heavy. I got fed up with lugging all that weight. This is a nice small camera transport system from CWATCUN.

Solid bag with a couple little quirks
Needed a new bag for a medium format SLR. The medium size fits the body (Bronica SQ), attached lens and back, prism finder, and a light meter in the main compartment. This is exactly what I wanted, and there’s plenty of padding where I feel comfort with the safety of the camera being transported on the train and walking around the city. The additional pouches are enough to fit some of the odds and ends, and the included dividers keep the gear sorted sufficiently. There’s some of what I almost consider over-engineering on the bag though. The zippers chosen are slightly bulky and don’t unzip quite as smoothly as a smaller toothed design. The “prevent from fully opening” tabs are nice and will prevent the bag from opening and dumping the camera accidentally, but kind of gets in the way otherwise. The back opening method is good for security, but requires you to stop and take off the bag to really get access to the camera. So not great for a run-and-shoot approach, even though the bag itself would work well otherwise. An attachment point on the outside instead of one of the tiny side pockets would be good for a water bottle holder or loop for a large lens case.

Pros and Cons
There’s a lot to like about this camera bag, with a couple of drawbacks. It’s a good size without being TOO big – I can fit my Nikon D3200 with 3 lenses in the main compartment. It’s nice that you can adjust the lid of the main compartment to connect with velcro (so it doesn’t flop open entirely) or disconnect the velcro for full access to the inside. There a several additional zippered pockets to store a variety of accessories. The overall quality is good – the material is nice, the stitching is solid, the zipper pulls are a bright color so they are easily seen against the black bag. I also like that you can use the included strap or just the top handle. However, there’s something about the main compartment cover, and the “top” side cover that I find mildly annoying – it feels like there’s a piece of cardboard inside the material that is warped towards the inside of the bag, reducing the overall space. Maybe it was squished during shipping and it will relax over time. Also, if you sit it upright (with the handle pointing up) and open the main compartment, you have to store the camera at the “bottom” of the bag. You can use the included padded velcro divider to create a compartment for a lens – but if you have a DSLR that needs to sit at the bottom, your lens compartment has to go at the top, so the lens easily falls out. They included a couple of extra velcro stretchy straps, but they don’t stay on very well – they are too short to use towards the bottom / widest part of the bag. I’m using the velcro stap inside the lens compartment I created to keep the lens from falling out. I really wish they provided two of the padded velcro dividers. With the camera and lenses in the main compartment, the rest of the pockets already feel a bit overstuffed – you can’t fit much more in them, especially the side pockets. At this point I’m generally happy with the bag, despite the issues noted above.
