A good, large capacity battery for charging USB devices – iPhones, etc.
I purchased this to keep various devices (iPhone, etc.) charged on a one week backpacking trip. It worked well. In fact, it was probably much more battery capacity than I needed; a week’s trip barely reduced the available charging capacity of the battery. As promised, it does charge up an iPhone quite quickly. One observation on the solar charging feature. This is a LARGE capacity battery, with small solar panels generating only a maximum of 6 watts of power. This means that the solar feature is only useful to “top off” or extend the life of the battery. This is not a plus or a minus – it is simply how the laws of physics work when applied to solar charging. Some reviews have commented that this battery charges slowly using solar. It does not; it charges at the rated 6 watts. But, anyone expecting to charge this battery up from a fully or mostly discharged state in a reasonable time is going to be disappointed — that would be like attempting to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool with a garden hose. It’s going to take a long time, not because the garden hose doesn’t deliver water at standard pressure but because the pool is so large. If you want to charge this (or any other) large capacity battery using solar, you are going to need large surface area solar panels, which would be much, much larger than this device has. What this devices does, and seems to do well, is allow you to carry a lot of spare power to charge devices when “off the grid.” It’s primary function is “large backup battery.” The solar feature is just an add-on to extend the life of the battery, not a primary (or even significant) method of charging the device up from a discharged state.

A surprisingly useful combo.
Ah, the marvels of modern technology never cease to amaze me! I recently had the pleasure of acquainting myself with a device that can only be described as a pocket-sized powerhouse of electrical energy. It’s a little like carrying around your own personal thunderbolt, except with much less risk of being struck by lightning. To be perfectly honest, I was initially skeptical of this contraption. I mean, a power bank with built-in solar panels? And all of it an such a compact package? Come on!Now, I won’t bore you with the technical details, but suffice it to say that this little gadget can deliver up to 18 watts of power to compatible devices (yes, it supports USB Type C Power Delivery) – which is frankly more than I ever expected from something so compact. And let’s not forget about those folding solar panels, which seem to magically soak up sunlight and turn it into usable energy. Although, and that’s one strike against this little box, there is no way to tell, how much power those panels actually produce. I wish there would be a little LCD, which both showed the rate of charge and discharge. But maybe that’s an engineer talking in me.One of the things I appreciate most about this device is its build quality. It feels sturdy and well-made, like it could withstand being dropped from a moderate height or being stepped on by a particularly clumsy elephant. And the fact that it can fit snugly in a larger person’s jeans pocket means that one can take it with anywhere, whether they are exploring the great outdoors, taking a transcontinental flight or simply commuting to work. All in all, I must say that I am thoroughly impressed with this little marvel of modern engineering. It’s like having your own personal power plant in your pocket! I wish I had this power bank when I was climbing mountains in 2000s!

Works well with direct sun
I was a bit surprised by this thing when in bright direct sunlight it does a pretty good job charging its self. On the other hand, if it is just in ambient light outside it doesn’t charge at all.

Did the job well
Don’t let them tell you you need something more expensive! Everybody told me this wouldn’t work, but my sister bought one and hers worked great so I went ahead and got the same one she had and mine worked great too! We both took hours on a four-day hike in upper Michigan and these bad boys charged everything we had the whole time. When we stopped, we open them up and set them in the sunlight and we were good to go! My sister walked with hers open on the back of her bag. If there’s no sun, you’re kind of screwed, but we were good for at least 2 days before we needed to charge these packs. I would recommend.

Does not charge in sunlight!!!
August 12,2024 UPDATE. I received a replacement charger. I’m changing my review to one star. The replacement charger functions even less. Then the original it was replacing. I would estimate it to be approximately 5000mAh. The replacement unit charged my galaxy s twenty three ultra, about one and a half times. The replacement unit also does not charge in direct sunlight over multiple days.I gave this 2 stars only because it does function as a battery backup. Even with that I believe it’s closer to 15-20k mAh. The solar function does not work. I’ve had the product for a little over a 1 week. I used the initial wall charge to charge my galaxy S23 Ultra approximately 2-2.5 times from 25% to 100%. I’ve had good sunlight with minimal cloud coverage and the unit has not charged in 4 days. It does charge from the USB inputs and holds a charge otherwise. For the price buy a better name or higher mAh and forget the solar aspect. I do not recommend.

No more charge
This lasted me 4 months before it just decided to stop holding a charge.

I read so many reviews of so many products and none of them seemed to really work as solar chargers. This is the one that works!I have two, one that I take out with us, day trips, camping etc. The other I leave in the shed, in front of the window, when I put a bike in the shed I put the lights and Garmin computer to charge so they are always ready for next time. It’s heavy, but works

This little guy is great! I took it on a campimg trip off grid and it charged my Samsung 22 ultra in under an hour in the sun BUT it doesnt seem to like Iphones? It charged everyones androids no problem but when a friend plugged in their IPhone we got nothing no charge and that was with full bars still. Maybe because it doesn’t come with a cord for the iPhone so it didn’t register something got plugged in? I have no idea but for Android this is the best.

This is the second one now in use great for the off grid cottage or camping

Purchased for camping trips. Didn’t get the results I was expecting. Overheated when solar charging in the sun which made the battery pack unusable during the rest of the trip. Quite bulky and heavy to carry around on a hike. Holds a good charge for charging a few devices when plugged in, but the solar ability is lack luster. Would not recommend. Now I just keep it charged at home for when the power goes out as a back up. Only thing it is good for.
