    Good and not too expensive
I was shopping for a USB microphone to record audio for some podcasts I do. The sound quality I got from the microphone built into my MacBook (and from my Apple AirPods) was poor enough that I wanted to upgrade, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune. This Blue Yeti caught my eye, and for the most part, it’s met my needs. It’s a large device – definitely bigger than I expected. Still, the construction quality seems very good, and the solid, mostly metal device definitely transforms my desk into something looking more professional.I had no issues connecting it to my MacBook – it was recognized instantly and it worked just like any other audio device. The one issue I had – and I don’t think it’s the Blue Yeti’s fault – is that I haven’t been able to get it working with Microsoft Teams on my Mac. If I select the Blue Yeti as the input device in Teams, it seems to be connected, but no audio data actually flows. Considering the Blue Yeti works fine with every other app I’ve tried, I tend to blame this one on Microsoft.I find the various sound pickup patterns very helpful. My home office isn’t particularly quiet, and I find that one of the narrower patterns helps me isolate my sounds so that I’m not picking up background noise. As far as sound quality, for my voice going onto a podcast, it’s more than adequate – and I assume it would be sufficient for most other similar uses. If you’re going to use it in, say, a recording studio, I think you might be disappointed – I tried recording a few musical instruments, and for the most part, it gave me pretty poor results. Of course, it’s not advertised as a musician’s microphone, so I can’t complain about that.Bottom line is that the Blue Yeti has done pretty much everything I thought it would, and for the most part, it’s met my expectations. I’ve tried less expensive microphones, and the Blue Yeti seems to be a step above in terms of performance – but at the same time, don’t expect the results of a fancy studio microphone costing ten times as much. For my needs, this is a great tradeoff, and I’d have no trouble recommending it to anyone wanting a basic, rugged and easy to use solution.

1000% better than the webcam mic
We find ourselves participating in more frequent video calls with family and colleagues and on-line classes so I decided to buy a decent microphone. The mic that’s built in to the camera is marginally ok but I wanted something better. This Blue Yeti microphone seemed like a good choice especially priced under $100. I’m no audio expert but I’m seriously impressed by how great this microphone sounds even when you’re not very close to it. You can select between four pickup patterns and my favorite extra feature is the mute button. Now I don’t have to hunt around for the mute function in the video conference app. The microphone comes with a very heavy duty stand and takes up a fair amount of space on your desk if you don’t buy an optional boom. However, you don’t have to position the mic right in front of your face to have good results.

Setup, easy, go. Tips for gamers & streamers…
Just plug in and go. That’s this microphone’s gimmick. No drivers, no software, nothing. It’s that easy. Used this for 10 years and is always my standard. When it goes on sale at $85 is the optimal time to purchase, but is still big value nonetheless even at full price.I use this for voiceovers and occasional gaming livestreams with OBS. Most people seem to setup the microphone incorrectly, so here’s what I do: on Windows, I set the microphone volume to 65-80 (depends on sound distance), the gain is all the way down and mode is on the heart-shaped cardioid. In combination with noise cancellation & level mixers in recording software, you can make it sound straight out of a professional studio— even in the loudest of environments.Volume control is extremely handy, along with the mute button which I both use consistently on an everyday basis. If you’re using the stand that comes with the mic, the size at first might seem huge and obnoxious when placed up close, but over time you get used to it as if it was never there. The optimal position is to place it between you and the keyboard.Absolutely a steal and is a misunderstood microphone around the streaming community. Give it a try, probably won’t regret it.

I like this brand. Works great with superb recording quality. It’s a little more pricey than other brands but in my opinion it’s worth it. Highly recommended!

Sonst alles Bestens.

I’ve been using this for recording voiceovers for instructional videos, and it is so much clearer and more professional sounding than when I was using the microphone built in to my headset. It’s quite adjustable, both on the mic itself, and in the software. It’s big and heavy, but that makes it sturdy. It doesn’t come with a pop guard, but these can be bought separately, and don’t cost much.
