    Kitty loves this
I do have a couple of minor complaints I’ll detail below, but overall kitty just loves this, she could watch it or bat at the tail for hours (wish it had a remote). Two AAA batteries, not included, but I do wish this was USB charge instead. The batteries I had were about a year old, and had never opened the package, but only lasted about 24 hours and needed to be replaced, so your mileage may vary. I did order a name brand so I’d maybe get better results with a fresher package, and it’s improved a bit, but not a lot. Oh well, kitty’s happiness is worth any expense :)I think this toy is supposed to stand up, and sometimes it does (more so on a hard floor), but eventually it goes on its side and just spins around and around. No worries, kitty is just as fascinated, sometime I just hold onto the bottom and let her bat at the tail at it is flailing in the air. We’re all good.

Extra star for brilliance of original idea
My kitten/cat approached this toy with the cold detachment of an experienced lab tech; he has seen so many toys in his short lifetime.. At first it seemed like the toy might win him over and turn him back into a playful little kitten, but something went wrong. I placed the toy on the ground, and it immediately fell over sideways. I kept trying to place the toy back upright, but it wasn’t even like it stayed up for a bit and then fell — it just fell back flat right away.Lying down with the worm/snake now protruding horizontally, the result was disappointing. The snake didn’t writhe at all. It simply turned around in a circle once like a clock hand, and then turned back and did another circle in the opposite direction. The device wobbled during these circles, which added some (but not nearly enough) drama to the circle-turning.So it seemed clear that the toy must be held somehow. If I held it upright in my hand the worm-snake did the same clock-circles, except now the circles were done in the air instead of against the ground. But neither air nor ground circles seemed to interest the cat much.I found that if I held the toy above the ground, horizontal, again, especially with maybe a little downward tilt, I seemed to get an optimal amount of wriggling and writhing from the snake-worm, and the snake-worm got the full attention of the cat. This was the brilliance of the snake-worm wriggling idea in action. The wriggling snake-worm was clearly appealing to some hard-coded ancestral hunting memories within the cat, and the cat just wanted to smack that snake-worm.Unfortunately the snake-worm’s wriggling was just a bit too much for the cat, which got whacked in the face by the snake-worm multiple times. The cat backed off a bit, leaving me alone by myself, holding the toy at a downward tilt. I could tell by the cat’s circling that he was forming some kind of counter-attack strategy against the snake-worm, but it was also clear that the cat felt that time was on the cat’s side, and waiting a few hours, days, or weeks to counter-attack was not out of the question. Meanwhile the cat would observe from a distance. This when I concluded that this toy started with the brilliant idea of the wriggling snake-worm, but ended not-so-brilliantly with no one following through to make sure the original brilliant idea worked brilliantly right out of the box with the person-user and the cat-user.I think this toy needs some additional help in making the snake-worm wriggle convincingly. I dangled the toy from the top of a doorway by mashing the battery case cover against a string. Maybe a string hole could be included with the product, or maybe even a block of wood with a circular hole cut in it, that the toy could be inserted into, to support the toy that way. Whatever. Right now it’s like this toy is just a step short of being awesome.

    Nice idea, so-so execution
I have four cats, and I’m always on the lookout for new toys, especially if they are automated and move randomly. Those tend to be really popular here, at least with some of the crew. This toy seemed promising, but as soon as I got it out of the box, my heart sank. Oh no, it needs batteries! And it has one of those seriously annoying battery compartments that are secured by a tiny screw. I’ve stripped out the heads of several of those because they are tightened too much in the factory, and it’s next to impossible to loosen them. At least the manufacturer provided a tiny screwdriver, and with some serious pressure on the screw, it did loosen, so I was able to open the battery compartment without stripping the head. After popping in two AAA batteries (I was also disappointed that it’s not rechargeable), I hit the power button and the snakey end began to twirl, and then the unit promptly fell over. And unlike some other toys I’ve tried lately, it didn’t right itself but just continued to spin slowly on its side. That didn’t bother the cats, who were intrigued by the tail/snake. But it did get caught a few times in a nearby cat scratcher.A couple of things struck me while watching one cat in particular play with it. First, an enthusiastic cat will bite/chew off the tail end in no time. As you can see in the photo, my one cat grabbed it in her mouth, and I know over time the tail would be shortened. And second, after maybe ten minutes, she completely lost interest in the toy.Cats are of course individuals, so your results may vary. But for the money, this isn’t my favorite toy for my cats, and I suspect they’d agree.

    Don’t waste Your money
My cat destroyed it in less than 30 minutes. Ate the wand, which I don’t think was very good for her
