My rats love hanging out on these ledges. As the quality of kaytee lava ledges has gone down, I have replaced my lava ledges with these wooden ledges to help keep the rats’ nails trimmed and give them fun spots in the cage to climb and hang out on. The mounting hardware is great quality and the gritty coating has held up to over a year’s worth of cleanings and soakings. I may eventually need to replace them in another year or two, but I think that’s still a very admirable amount of time for a wooden cage item to hold up to rat mischief.
