Loaded with Weeds
Over seeded my dormant lawn last week of August. The grass results were good as shown in the picture. Unfortunately the weeds grew just as well. The weeds popped up in only the areas that I over seeded with Scott’s Northeast mix.I have used this same product in previous years and have never had this issue. Not sure if I will buy Scott’s Northeast mix again.

Good stuff
This grass seed grew well. I live on Long Island, New York. I planted them in the spring. I did not run a sprinkler, but I wet them with the hose every night for a week or two. I am happy with how the grass grew.

Good Results
I live in NY, Long Island. I just threw down thick layers of seed on bare dirt. Not soil, dirt. I didn’t put top soil over it. Just made sure it was watered and let it go. It works good for me.Where it really shines is the following year(s). The grass doesn’t die off like most other grass under snow in frigid temps. As soon as March comes, this grass is already back to full green and growing, even though it’s still cold. It’s important to lay it down densely! We used the Scotts grass program in a different area that has a bunch of different bags involved and it was decimated after the winter. And that package was double the cost of this.It is very delicate when it’s growing. Weeds can easily take over. So make sure you stay on top of them in the beginning. Also, any animals relieving themselves on this will kill even established grass is one go. So if it’s a high traffic area, or an area where pets frequent, go with something more hardy. It just may not last through winter. This is also the perfect color green.

Beware! Some sellers ship expired seed.
We’ve had great success with this seed but a recent order was fulfilled by As Seen on TV and not Scotts. It arrived in a repurposed Jolly Rancher box and the seed was EXPIRED. Bottom line, the product is good but not all size options come from the manufacturer, so check before ordering.

Disappointed. Very long germination period. Poor results
I have experience growing grass. I prepped all areas with raking, fresh topsoil, straw, daily watering, etc. This seed took weeks to germinate and is slow to grow. I started in early May in CT. The shaded areas are doing better than partial to full sun. Disappointed. The full sun areas are sparse at best and will bake out in full summer. I am looking elsewhere next time. Significant investment in time and soil, etc. I need to do it all over again in the fall.

Weed seed
Worst seed I have ever used in over 30 years. Live in NJ and this is for the northeast. Took nearly 6 weeks to germinate then only 50% growth and 50% of that was a weed I had never seen before. Had to have been in their special blend. Don’t think I will ever use Scott’s products again. Waste of a lot time, effort and money.

The best seed.
I planted Scotts Turf Builder Grass seed, and within a week it had filled in the bare spots and spaces that squirrels caused. It stayed green and thick all winter (northern CT cold) and it is still green and thick as we enter March. I plan on buying more for Spring overseeding. Great green color, and thickness, and it stays that way. I followed the simple directions and not one weed came up. It grew fast without my doing anything within a week, it’s 100% grass seed. The best.
