Good pad – took a long time to fluff up initially
So, I really like this pad. When I first got it, I opened the valves and left it overnight. It didn’t self inflate at all. I walked on it the next day with sox on on the carpet, kind of messaging the padding. Went up a little. Blew a little air in it and let it rest for another day. Sill really low. Repeated everything and then just let it sit for a week on a bed. Finally, full padding thickness and functioning like it should. I slept on it camping a couple nights ago – excellent pad. Very happy. Just, take your time getting the foam to expand after sitting sucked flat from Amazon for months. Totally worth the money, and I have a bunch of other pads too. This is now my main camping go to mat. It is more comfortable and lighter and packs smaller, and still has decent insulation, than the others I own. Sea to summit makes good stuff, even though it costs a little more than the cheap stuff.

Worth the bulk for kayak hammock camping
I bought this for an annual kayak camping trip at the Big South Fork River in Tennessee and Kentucky. After completing the trip, I can easily say this is the best sleeping pad I’ve ever used. For reference, we always do this trip near the end of May or early June with temps ranging from 40 – 70* F at night. I’m 6’2” tall and weigh in at 225 lbs: the large, tapered pad fit me perfectly. The pad came with clear instructions and was easy to inflate (and I recommend letting the pad stay inflated for a day or two before use). Since we are kayaking, I try to keep my gear to 50L or less, but I don’t feel like I have to stress about weight as much… perhaps hiking might be a different story. My sleep system consists of an Eno Jungle Nest hammock, the Sea to Summit Sleep pad, and a 20 degree Teton sleeping bag. Temps got into the high 40s during the trip, but I slept like a baby! The pad kept me warm, insulated, and supported in my hammock, although it did slide a little bit (which is to be expected in hammock use). The minimal slide didn’t cause any noise, and the pad stayed firm and didn’t leak at all throughout the night. While it’s a little bulkier due to the foam, it’s 100% worth the bulk and money. Highly recommend!

    Ingenious valve system: maintains pressure.
A previous purchase of a self-inflating sleeping mat from a different manufacturer proved to be keenly disappointing from a variety of aspects, not the least of which, its inability to maintain inflated pressure once set. The inflate/deflate valve also was faulty and greatly aggravated the displeasure of experience. So abjectly useless was it, I began to prefer the unchangeable qualities of a concrete slab. Not one given to discouragement or defeat, I set about researching products in this category and settled on this model from Sea to Summit, not truly expecting anything out of the ordinary course of things. The instructions give ample forewarning of potentially having to wait an entire day before the first inflation is complete, after which, inflating and deflating is accomplished with relative ease. Having strong lungs, I adjusted the valve and exercised mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and had the thing bulging with lung-born air, within three minutes. I place it on my army cot, adjusted the pressure, and fell to sleep, leaving my analysis until the morning. First thing to note is the utter absence of back pain and no loss of air pressure. I used adjustable straps, one at each end, to fix the sleeping mat to the cot to prevent movement when tossing and turning. Overall, I fail to find at present, any fault in either manufacturing or function, and it performs its task admirably well. I am satisfied with this mat and can honestly recommend it.

    It is well insulated.
It kept the parts of me warm that were in touch with the pad. It is constructed in a way that is very supportive, and I don’t feel like I’m slipping off the edge. It self inflates to a point, and I used a battery pump to top it off for my comfort. It is bulky and a challenge to compress. Practice before hitting the trail. The valve system is supposed to help with deflation; however that didn’t work well for me. I compressed a bit as I rolled it and then would pull the valve plug to let air out and replug it to keep it from reinflating itself.

    Great pad
After reading the reviews I was a little worried about getting this pad fully inflated and then back in the bag. It arrived yesterday, I did leave it untouched for at least 12 hours, blew 6 big breaths into it, then tested on my hard floors it was very firm, I let a little air out even. Next tested how to put it away, I followed the directions, flipped the valve over, rolled it while pressing with my knees, then unrolled, folded it I half and rolled it tightly, it fit in the bad with room to spare and I have slight arthritis in my hands. I will update after this weekend actual camping, but so far love this mat, I may actually sleep while camping.Update, the pad did great kept me warm and cushioned on cement. It was not quite as easy to roll as it was at home, but still worked fine and it fit in the bag. Can’t wait to use it again.

    Very comfortable
This is super comfortable and seems really durable. I had issues with a different brand developing holes with light use. This has been a welcomed change.

Awesome quality mat. Used for winter camping and worked great. Easy to set up. If you mainly back country camping I would say it’s not the option that lightest or that packs the smallest. But great for car camping and the occasional back country camping trip.
