Better than expected…for real.
This was a Christmas gift I absolutely didn’t see coming or even want to be perfectly clear. I’ve been using it for about a month now & I LOVE IT.I’ve ALWAYS been a Gillette razor guy for my bald head, face, neck, arms, etc. So having an electric shaver is super fast & 95% as good as a razor shave.Truthfully I am not a hype guy on something I don’t use, wear or install, etc, BUT this is AWESOME & a charge lasts for 3 Shaves or an entire week. It’s also SUPER easy to clean as well.So get yourself 1 & 1 to gift to someone too.

Great Customer Support
Package presentation and accessories were great. My shaver worked great for 6 months but then I started having trouble with a switch failure. It would turn on at random times and turning it off was not always possible as the switch wouldnât respond. I contacted customer support and after a little troubleshooting, they were quick to send me a replacement item. After six months of use, I was hesitant I would get this level of support, but they were great to deal with and prompt to provide a solution. I would recommend Freebird!

Second update:
1/18/25 Update: Battery still discharging after 4 days of not using the shaver. I really don’t have to shave my head daily because my hair grows pretty slowly. Freebird customer service saw my review and reached out 1/14. They are sending me a replacement out under warranty, which is appreciated. Hopefully the replacement will hold a charge. Upgraded to 4 stars again for now thanks to the quick customer service.Update 1/14: Battery doesn’t hold a charge well. Got 1 shave out of it and have to charge it each time. Now I’m on the fence about if I need to go ahead and file for a replacement or see how it goes, but getting 1 shave per charge is a lil wild.Original: Got it last night and charged it. Woke up this morning to shave and went to work. At first this thing was going through my hair fairly efficiently, but definitely missing a small spot here and there I’d have to run over the same spot a bit to get it.The issue was that by the time I got to the back half of my head, it was missing a lot of hair. Since I got the pro, I just stopped and popped the foils off and found that my hair was clogging the underside of the foils and not collecting in the chamber efficiently.I cleaned the underside of the foils with a brush quickly, and was back in business. To do my entire head required that I do this process twice. Not the worst issue, but my specific hair type doesn’t seem to do anything, but clog. I have pretty soft/fine hair that I’ve kept buzzed/shaved, since I turned 30. It’s just the most efficient use of time.I’ll also be honest and say I didn’t trim right before because I had buzzed and shaved with a razor a week prior. I had short stubble, but now my head looks better than buzzing without a guard using an Andis and closer to razor blade territory. Also, I do have a few small bumps on my noggin and this made short work of the hair regardless and didn’t require too much time to get the hair in those areas. I’d say all in…maybe 7-10 minutes. The jury is still out on whether I’ll get an electric razor rash, but so far I’m a fan. The noise level is better than my Panasonic beard trimmer or my Andis electric clipper. I did a dry shave and honestly with brushing the foils out, I could have skipped rinsing. The final caveat is the need to replace foils at 50 shaves, but we’ll see how that goes. I’d imagine with my hair type, it should last quite a bit longer. I’d assume with thick coarse hair, that would be closer to the truth.Solid 4/5 because it isn’t as efficient as I’d like and took a bit of passing over some of the same spots trying to get rogue hairs. Then there’s having to brush out the hair three times to get the results I’d like. This will definitely make shaving less of a chore and I’ll be more likely to grow out less in-between.

OK, but flawed
I used this shaver for 2 weeks. During that time I contacted Freebird several times regarding best use and maintenance. Their response was nearly instantaneous, friendly and helpful. But, finally, the shaver just did not work for me. I have tried various other handheld rotary head shavers and found them to generally fail pretty quickly, or be otherwise unsatisfactory. I read about how Freebird developed the PRO as an upgrade to the earlier Flex, and was hopeful. The comparison I made was to a Panasonic Arc 5, a device that the maker does not even recommend for head shaving, but which actually does an excellent job. Its problem is that shape of the shaving head is more suited to the flatter planes of the face than the curves of the scalp, so it just takes longer. The PRO looks to be well constructed although, except for the blade beads itâs mostly plastic. Hereâs where the PRO was lacking for me:1. Its shave is just not nearly as close as the Arc 5, even with repeated passes2. The head assembly did not flex as much as others Iâve tried. At times, instead of cradling my head, it felt as though it was just sitting on top of it.3. Cleaning is more involved than Iâm ready for. I put the basic head assembly under running water and a fair amount of gunk showed in sink water. But then, because there had been some recommendations that the head assembly needed to be disassembled, I did this, very carefully holding everything together, to running water over a freshly cleaned sink. More gunk. So, apparently this disassembly and cleaning needs to take place after every use. These spaces are incredibly tiny and it wouldnât take much to affect performance. But because the PRO doesnât cut too closely, I would need to use it daily. This coupled with the cleaning routine is just more hassle than Iâm ready for. Finally, Freebird seems like a good company, except for their recommendation that the blade assembly be replaced after every 50 shaves. Either the blade assembly is not well made, or this is just a $ grab. I know of no other manufacturer of any similar device that would recommend replacement this frequently.

First use and the shaver nailed it. Clean shaving, the way it needs to be, and quick as possible. No issues at all, easy to clean and charge. Great 1st experience.
