    Great sleeping pad.
As far as sleeping pads go, I find this design superior to ones that roll up for a number of reasons. Sometimes i use this pad to sit or kneel on and it is easy to use the folds to get the exact thickness between me and the ground where i want it. The R-value is pretty high for a pad this cheap.Comparing this to an inflatable mattress, I find this thing simply irreplaceable. It is tougher and more durable than any air mattress, you don’t have to blow it up or carry a patch kit just incase it gets a hole. I know people that won’t get their mattresses anywhere near a fire for fear that a flying ember will burn a big hole in their $100+ mattress. I plop this thing down in various configurations and sit or lay near fires with no worry. I frequently lean it up against trees so I’m sitting up but still have padding under my whole body, and one section doubled over at the top for extra padding for my head. I kneel on it to protect my knees when i’m cooking or building fires, i would never do this with an inflatable mattress. If we stop hiking to take a break it is easy to undo the straps on pack, throw this down and sit, kneel, or lay, then simply accordion it back up and strap it back on the pack and continue down the trail. If i ever get an inflatable mattress for backpacking i will still probably cut off and bring a small section of this for some of the above purposes. At 14oz it is also lighter by far than any similar r-value inflatable mattress by quite a bit. Even air mattresses that have very low r-value are heavier or the same weight.

    Lightweight, comfy, durable.
I use this for military applications. It is more comfortable and just as warm as my Marine Corps issue sleeping pad. It’s definitely much lighter. Only downside is that rocks can easily be lodged in the gaps and that the silver side is not the most concealable color. It would be nice if they made a green and tan one.Pros:Very lightComfortableCons:Egg carton design traps rocks sometimesSilver side not very tactical (might not be a problem for most)

    Great for camping, lightweight
Very lightweight and seem like they’ll last a long time. You will feel the ground if you have bony hips (like me), but this is only after several hours of sleeping. Much better design than other sleeping mats I’ve had in the past. We had a decent nights sleep, which is all one can ask for when camping.

Small footprint, quick to pack, multi-use, adequate padding for medium frame
I’ve used this mat now for 8 days worth of backpacking plus a couple of camping trips. The Z-fold is quick to pack up and keeps its footprint small small and consistent in my pack without over-compressing the foam. The Z-fold also provides some flexibility in use: folded up 1×8 or 2×4, it doubles as a seat; or the top can be folded back for a pillow while still giving ample length (I’m 5’8″). It provides just barely enough padding for my 160-lb person; after several consecutive days, my hips still bruised, but it’s more comfortable than other mats at this price point. It kept me warm enough with a 3-season sleeping bag plus one layer down to 25˚F. One lesson learned—the version at Target is a few dollars less but not the same product; the foam in this version compresses less and is worth the extra $5. Save the plastic sleeve to keep it clean & closed during transport and storage.

Been using this design for years
Not the most comfortable but you get used to it and realize this is the best tradeoff between weight and utility – period!

Great Improvement Over My 30 Year Old Therma-a-Rest
I didn’t think they could improve on the original therma-a-rest I’ve had since college, but they did. A cold hike across the Sierra’s convinced me that I needed more insulation, but necessarily inflation. At first I looked into inflatable models, but the best are expensive and I also like camping gear that’s rugged, unlike cactus prone inflatable models. I tossed my multi-patched inflatable a few years back.PROS:1. Size: The egg carton shaped surface interlocks to make it fold thinner than you would think.2. Packing: It folds quickly, and I didn’t have a problem bending it or stuffing it if needed. It is a bit wide for stuffing horizontally, but I prefer to tie it to the outside for easy access as a break chair.3. Insulation: The new surface creates air pockets and better ground insulation. The foam also seems better than my original black therm-a-rest.4. Look: I got basic green, and I like that. I don’t like rests that double as rescue flags and despoil the campsite with a space camp look.5. Durability: So far, it seems durable. I will look after the folding points, but expect them to wear well.CONS:1. No real cons. Some may want wider, some may want thicker, but I found it just right. Get an inflatable for extreme cold, but this is great for most people’s cold ground needs.BOTTOMLINE:A great pad that keeps me warmer on cold ground, packs quickly, and make a great chair when needed!

6 Years Later and my Favorite Sleeping Pad
I bought this sleeping pad 6 years ago and it looks like it’s finally time to retire it. This sleeping pass has served me well from the mountains of Colorado with 12 inches of snow on the ground to the hot arid environment of big bend down near the border of Texas sleeping on the side of cliffs. These sleeping pads technically don’t have a great r value (warmth) but I have never found it lacking in temperatures all the way down to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. These are super important not only for comfort but to give you that layer between you and the earth to keep your warmth.6 years later and it’s technically still functional but has finally compressed the padding enough to where I get some discomfort while I’m sleeping. I can’t recommend this enough and will be buying another!

I felt, strongly compelled to review this item because it is, absolutely amazing. I was feeling desperate because I had been dealing with chronic back pain for some time. Since I don’t really dwell on pills or going to the emergency rooms too often, I decided to take the issue in my hands. I knew, I had to start sleeping on a hard surface. I ordered this beautiful item for that purpose. To my amazement, the shape and design of this little pad, it actually serves as therapy as well. Within three days of sleeping on it, I was walking a bit normal, and little pain. Four days later, I could go for longer walks, and six days later, I went shopping, was up the whole day, and I was pain free. This is my advice, do not be afraid of sleeping in hard surfaces. This is coming from a parson who has had accidents, which resulted in some damage on my spine. As a result of it, I have been visiting chiropractors very frequently. Initially, laying on a hard surface, it will feel, almost unbearable for people who has never done it before. Don’t worry. It is the spine and the nerves, waking up, and reversing the damage done through your entire life. I totally recommend this product and the company. I received this item, super fast. As well, the pad, is super light, unbelievable compact, and it is made from high quality materials.😍😍😍

Also Qualität hat wohl seinen Preis. Also etwas Vorsicht damit.
