The tie is truly skinny, the exact measurements as listed online. It feels rather “dry” to the touch, as opposed to soft or slick. The shade of black is a true black (not off-black or a deep black). There is a bit of a sheen to it. I can best describe it by comparing it to paint. In paint finishes there’s gloss, semi-gloss, satin and matte. This tie falls in the satin finish category. The construction is good. I’d call it secure. You can’t reach into it and see the interfacing and so forth that you can with traditionally made ties, but it looks nice and certainly won’t come apart. It’s an attractive tie and looks great on the small frame of my son-in-law, and it’s reasonably priced.

It is a pretty good little tie. I did not like the thickness of the material. I would have preferred it in silk. Silk is soft and easy to handle when creating a tie. I considered returning it but will keep it. It is not worth the time and cost. I know Amazon would have accepted it as a return just to keep me as a happy customer. But I will use it. It is a beautiful red and that is what I like most about it.. If you need a red tie. this one could work..This item is a beautiful red and will serve the purpose if you need this color.
