Nice video extender with multiple video options
I got this to add a second external monitor to my old laptop. The laptop has a single video out and the support for multiple monitors was limited.I was able to plug in the monitors, plug in the device, and everything worked reasonably well. I was able to extend and mirror my screens as I wanted. It’s nice to have support for USB-A and USB-C, though I had some trouble getting it to work using USB-A. Plugging it into my USB-C port worked just fine.It says it handles 1080p @ 60Hz. I ran into some minor artifacts on one monitor, but overall, it handled things reasonably well. I don’t know that I would use it to play FPS or sports games using it but for my uses (web, social media, light video streaming), it works very well.My monitors are limited to 1080p, so I was not able to try the 30Hz/4k video ports. But it’s nice to know that if I expand my system, I’ll have the option to add more monitors (assuming my laptop supports more than 2 external monitors at that point).

4 Screens with one adapter .. Seriously
I’ve have wanted to use more than two screens for ages. Iâve been doing that for a while, but I had to juggle through two powered hubs to make it work. Although it functioned, whenever I left my computer on and it went to sleep, I’d hear random audio pops every 5â15 minutes. Then, this 4X HDMI adapter became available, and I jumped on it.When I first installed it via the software, I encountered a few issuesâmainly with my 4K resolution. I couldnât bring the resolution down below 3840×2160 for my two main screens, and after sleep mode, only one screen would load unless I rebooted. Sometimes the smaller monitor wouldnât come back on at all. I reached out to support, and they pointed me to an installation video on their product page for Mac. I tried the suggested method, but I still couldnât adjust the resolution. Then I remembered I was still using one hub (since I need the extra ports on my 16-inch MacBook Pro with an M2 Ultra chip). So, I tried using the HDMI port on my Mac and the DVI port on my hub (since HDMI was giving me issues), rebooted, and all screens finally worked. I was thrilled with this setup and was able to lower the 4K screens to 2560×1440. Higher resolutions were straining my eyes, but once adjusted, everything looked good, and I no longer had the audio popping issue. Plus, having one less hub connected is a nice bonus.If you look closely, you can see this adapter positioned directly under the screen with the scripture on it. I know Iâm not fully using the 4K capability on this adapter, but thatâs fine with me. I still experience occasional issues with the smaller screen not coming on after sleep mode, but a quick reboot solves that. Itâs much better than constantly swapping cables. This adapter even provides better color on that little screen compared to my previous hub, where colors appeared more muted. I still need to fine-tune the settings, but itâs looking much better now. I use that screen for text messages and smaller windows that I prefer not to cover up on my main displays, so itâs practical.I understand this adapter was primarily designed for PC screens, with Mac software added as an extra. Macs desperately need native support for more than two screens, and companies like CENMATE are working hard to expand display options for Mac users. As a Mac user, I appreciate the effort, as I know working with Appleâs restrictions can be challenging. I love Macs, mainly because they donât crash as often as the PCs Iâve used, but enabling support for four screens shouldnât be this difficult. Iâd love to see if any PC users are using this adapter to run eight screens!Although the 30Hz on the 4K side might have contributed to my eye strain, I still recommend this adapter for its capabilities with two 1080p screens. I hope CENMATE continues to innovate and eventually releases a 4X 4K 60Hz adapter that integrates smoothly with Appleâs setup. For now, Iâm just happy to have eliminated my second hub, relying on just one hub and this adapter to manage all four screens.
