Cord shouldn’t be permanent
Mostly great. It’s interesting that the review itself specifically asked stars on “Cord length”, which is really my only complain, thought it’s a minor one. This device is very sturdy, plenty of ports without being ridiculous, and no reduction in speed of devices plugged into it, as long as you use a good extension usb (if you need one). Obviously marketed more for laptop users with it right next to their laptop, I’m using it as an extension from my desktop, so needed it to go a lot further. They should have made this with a cord that could be removed and replaced with a longer one, instead of having to buy an extension cable for it.Other than that, I highly recommend it.

Not great for midi controllers
Bought this because I recently switched from an older MacBook to a newer pro that only has the C inputs all of my mini controllers for music production. Have the old USB type so bought this powered one hoping I could use it to plug-in at least a couple keyboards or an abletin to launchpad…… it works with one of my Akai smaller 25 key keyboard ended up having to get power adapters for some of my media equipment then ended up finding better powered hub that works with five devices interface multiple keyboards drum pad launchpad even charged my phone has HDMI out ethernet input for about $20 more if you’re going to use this for music production it’s OK for a small set up

I have attached to this a laptop charger, hdmi, and webcam. only 2 work at a time, sometimes 1. I can’t imagine charging this much for a product that doesnt work…

These work great with tablets and newer laptops. We’ve got a production environment where we use touch screen tablets that lack USB ports. This allows charging and expansion all through one simple connection. We’re using Dell Latitude 7200 tablets and the factory dell charger.We’ve got 5 of these in use and all are working well.
