Well-built, but gets HOT
Constructing a lamp to resist damage from moisture requires a bit more substantial materials and quality of fit and finish. This lamp accomplishes that.The array of UV LEDs appears to be in the correct wavelength range, based on reflected illumination of surfaces that respond to blacklight. The beam pattern is fairly broad, not spotlight, although achieving a floodlight effect depends on distance between the light source and what’s being illuminated.Points taken off for an unmarked power switch mounted on the AC line cord. I’ve painted an “ON” indication with typing’s Wite-Out fluid, which can be seen best in a dimly-lit room. Otherwise chances are 50-50 that this rocker switch will be in the wrong position when you plug it in to use. The line cord itself is not very long, but the wire is fairly flexible to conform to shelving or other area where the lamp is mounted.WARNING, BACK SURFACE GETS HOTThe video shows temperatures, in Degrees Fahenheit, registered by a handheld, Infrared thermometer to measure how hot the back panel gets on this lamp. Knowing any thermal risk will help decide where to mount it safely away from curtains or other items placed nearby.Each click that you hear of the IR thermometer in this video aims the target dot at a different location for measurement along the back panel. Temperatures are recorded a half hour after the lamp was plugged in. They range from 150 degrees F to 192 degrees F.This back panel is supposed to get warm as a normal function of dissipating heat from the LEDs. At these temperatures, some sort of warning should be in the packaging to keep this fixture away from items that could be damaged by such heat, including wax candles, or being mounted in an enclosed area with no airflow, like a display cabinet.Which brings up another aspect of this product. There are NO instructions or documentation provided whatsoever. This is a simple lamp that a user plugs in and utilizes. But when used in the dark at a party, with operating temperatures on the back of this fixture as discussed, it becomes most important to avoid fire risk. A label or other caution would have been prudent.

Looks more blue than purple
I use a lot of black lights. True black lights don’t interfere with your circadian rhythm as much as other lights. I don’t have a spectrometer, but I have my doubts about this light. I don’t think the highest frequency is 395 nm because it is very, very blue. Anything above 400 will mess with your circadian rhythm.That having been said, this is a very bright light and feels sturdy.

Good little UV-A flood, with cord switch
This is a better than average UV-A flood. 30W is a decent amount of power, and in low ambient light, was enough to visibly affect blacklight art on my wall from across the room (15′ away). From a close distance it’s quite powerful. These lights do put out a fair bit of heat, but the heat sink seems up to the task, and it never got uncomfortably warm.There are two things I especially like about this unit which I think sets it apart from some of the others. First, the cord is quite long, and includes a switch, so you don’t have to plug / unplug it to power it on and off. Second, the cord is flexible enough that the light will sit upright held by the bracket, even though the cord exit is in the bottom of the frame. I can also verify that these are reasonably waterproof. I had mine outside during a few days of heavy rain, and it worked just fine during and after this.
